P & L in Complex

Complex Magazine did a dope little feature on my Tumblr page.
This was a total surprise and huge compliment!

"Some say diamonds are a girls best friend, we say its
Pistols & Lipstick
High end photography of your favorite girls behaving badly."-

Art Walk

One thing I love about living in Downtown LA
is the monthly art walk.
It's always fully of funky creative people expressing themselves through different types of art and never lacks for a good time.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the best pictures due to heavy drinking and eatables but these are a few pictures
I snapped at the new Suede shop
featuring David Flores.

Go Check it out:

Awesome + Color + Skinner = RAD

So stoked to go see some Skinner art this weekend!
I mean read the description on the flyer - shit sounds so crazy

For those of you who aren't familiar with Skinner, he is one of the main artist Mishka NYC works with and is extremely talented.
My boyfriend and I have been huge fans of his work forever

I will update with pics next week...can't wait!!

Kelly Thompson

Fashion photographer and illustrator Kelly Thompson has recently sparked my interest with her soft delicate color palettes and consistent use of females in both her illustrations and photographs.

Natalia Sanabria

I recently stumbled across Natalia Sanabria's illustrations again which really made an impression on me the second time around.
She currently resides in Costa Rica and is a student with one hell of a talent. I'm enthralled by her soft pencil technique and her use of vibrant colors. It's makes me want to pull out some paper and pencil, and get my fashion illustration on!

Check out more of her work here

Francoise Nielly

French artist, Francoise Nielly has really caught my attention with her colorful, expressive paintings. They all have so much energy and freedom which reflects a lot on who Nielly is.
She uses oil paint on canvas and takes a knife to blend colors and combine her bright color palettes, all of which are fabulous.

Be sure to check her website out if you are not familiar with her work. She's truly an amazing female artist and has such a distinguished style in her work.

Crossing Lines

A rad documentary about artist
Conor Harrington’s time in the Middle East.
The Irish artist travels with film-maker Andy Telling through Tel Aviv, Israel, Bethleham, and Palestine creating new works as he goes. He has been working away for months on both the film and editing, as well as producing all the music.
Pretty impressive and beyond inspirational!

"My work deals with conflict and tension so I thought this would be an interesting place to go to"- Harrington

Enjoy!

Sylvia Ji

I'm speechless over LA based artist, Sylvia Ji
Her art reflects an extension of herself, a passionate appreciation of simple aesthetic pleasure fused with intimately complex subject matter.

Majority of her paintings are acrylic/mixed on wood panels & have got to be some of the most beautiful paintings I've seen. Her use of bold colors and fierce, confidant women grab my attention and really  bring out this inter confidence within myself kind of like:
"Yeah I'm beautiful, I'm independent and strong - so fuck you!"

I'm currently looking to purchase one of her paintings...its just so hard to decide what one I want first!

Happy Monday
